I am often asked to explain what exactly is
coaching. I try to describe it as a partnership that helps people identify
their goals and move faster towards their dreams.
Take the following scenarios: (all names are fictitious
- but the people are real).
 |
Susan, a superachiever at work, finds it hard to say
no to new projects, and yet what she really wants to do is spend more
time with her young family
|
| |
|
 |
Jim has a really successful business; he enjoys his work
and spends most of his time there. Increasingly he is aware that perhaps
there is more to life
|
| |
|
 |
Janet has become increasingly dissatisfied with her extremely
well-paid job which supplies a lifestyle she loves. But this no longer
feels enough and she desperately wants to find a career that fulfils
her, matches her values and find her purpose in life
. |

|
 |
Karen's children are growing up and leaving for university.
She'd like a career but doesn't feel she wants to start up what she used
to do. She lacks confidence and needs some direction
|
| |
|
 |
Graeme has had a series of poor relationships and two
messy divorces. Despite being somewhat cynical, he really wants to find
his life partner. What can he do to attract her into his life? |
| |
|
 |
Shirley has recently divorced. She has to re-evaluate
herself and her life. She has financial problems. Her passion is art
and she would like to make it her life and livelihood. What could make
that happen? |
| |
|
 |
Michael is a successful CEO but in the current anxious
economic climate, the drive and risk-taking that got him to his position
are not needed. He needs new challenges or a new model for how to live
his life. |
Do any of these strike a chord? What areas of dissatisfaction
are there in your life? Unfulfilled dreams? What
are you going to do about them? If the desire to take action has at last
arrived, a coach could be just the person to get you and keep you on track
- to achieve the whole life that you want - to make the future perfect
- NOW!
